Education and Technology Converge
St. Brendan High School in Miami, FL opened the Innovation Center this fall, a distinctively designed building with the latest technology and educational resources for students. Midtown Video was tapped to create a custom 23×11’- 98 LED panel videowall in the auditorium along with a complete control room and lighting system for the broadcast studio.
The video wall is made up of 98 – 55” Chauvet panels for video playback and computer presentations and can be controlled by a Crestron touch panel on the wall or from a remote source. Audio is enhanced by JBL speakers and audio system. Sony robotic cameras are installed throughout the multi-use auditorium and connected to the broadcast studio control room upstairs in another section of the high school.
One of the challenges of the assignment was to design and build a permanent video installation with custom finishes that would include serviceability of the complex technical components. This was achieved by including unique enclosures that can be accessed by our technicians without disrupting the working parts.
The auditorium has the capability of being split up into two smaller sections, each with its own separate audio and video systems. In addition to the large video wall, there is a 90” permanently mounted display in the second space.
For morning announcements and other student produced video programming, St. Brendan High School has a television studio and control room for broadcasting and content creation. Midtown Video added the TriCaster 8000 system with camera switching, virtual sets, live streaming and recording. A lighting grid and lights were also provided in the studio. Students will learn production techniques on cutting-edge video tools and acquire skills they can use in college and career.
